FF Slides Windows Taskbar On Open, Issue Reopening Last Session
I was having an issue where FF wouldn't restore my tabs on start. "Recently closed tabs" wasn't available, and when choosing "recently closed windows," 2 - 4 new windows would open, along with one which had the previous session tabs.
I noticed in the task manager that FF wasn't actually closing, so I started using "exit" in the FF menu. Now, even after a computer reboot, when I start FF I see a number of windows open and close quickly, along with a identical "copy" of my windows taskbar sliding in from the left to the right, and "replacing" the current one. I had to record my screen to be sure that's what I was seeing. After the "extra" windows flash open and closed, the FF window with the previous session tabs "slides in" with the "new" windows taskbar.
This does not seem normal to me, as my Windows taskbar has never move before unless I moved it. I'd also like to be able close FF without exiting through the menu, or having to reopen and close several windows if I forget to. This behavior is the same in when I start in safe mode as well. I've never synced FF, or signed for that, and I ran malwarebytes and gotten nothing. Is something wrong here?

I just did a clean reinstall, and nothing's changed. Does anyone recognize what I'm talking about at all? Firefox sliding the Windows toolbar? Does any know if that's normal?
That is all pretty strange.
Issue #1: Windows closing themselves
I don't know why Firefox would close the restored windows it just opened. Do you use any add-ons that suppress pop-up windows? Perhaps the add-on is confused between new windows opened during session restore and pop-up windows opened by websites.
Issue #2: Taskbar sliding
I've occasionally had an issue where the icons for the open Firefox windows do not stack up behind my pinned taskbar icon, but instead open in a new group at the end of the Taskbar. Does that sound like what you're seeing? Or do they start out separate and then consolidate behind one icon, which would be very odd?

As I mentioned, I have the issue when starting in safe mode as well. But I don't use an extension for blocking pop-ups - not unless FF Recommended adblockers do that.

I didn't describe an issue involving Firefox icons. Like I said, "a[n] identical 'copy' of my windows taskbar slid[es] in from the left to the right . . . 'replacing' the current one."
So, I generally don't encounter this phenomenon because I'm still exiting sessions the same way I have for the last decade+, by hitting the "X" in the upper-right corner of the browser window. For some reason, this now requires several clicks on restart to restore the session, by using 'Reopen all windows.' The only "solution" I've seen for this issue is to exit sessions using the "exit" function in the dropdown. This is when the behavior I described occurs.
But I've now noticed something else: when the "new" taskbar/screen slides in, my notepad icon is moved from the far left, where I put it when I open notepad, to the far right of the taskbar (were it appears when I first open the program). This happens every time I start FF after having used 'exit' in the dropdown to close FF. You can see the move in the attached pic. I moved the icon back probably a hundred times before I figured out FF was the culprit. This, too, happens in safe mode.
