Firefox re-start

Hi, Once upon a time, when restarting a session, closed with some pages still open, Firefox was proposing the list of all pages that were open at the termination moment, asking to CHOOSE which pages we wanted in this new session. That feature was very very useful, allowing a fast closing, and a 'meditated' and comfortable restart.

Now, from a couple of years, it seems that the only choice is to have back ALL the pages again, or none... Is maybe this useful old setting hidden somewhere ? Thank you for your help... I find irritating loosing features in updates !

Hi Massimo, I only remember seeing a screen with a list of tabs to choose among after a failed crash recovery, not after a normal/successful shutdown. I'm not aware of any way to trigger that screen during a normal startup.

Thank you jscher2000. Yes, but if I shut down the PC with a running Firefox on, or if I just terminate the process from the activity manager, first thing, after clicking on Firefox icon, there was a list of tabs previously open, with the flag to recover it....

You can set Firefox to skip automatic crash recovery and always show you that screen. This would definitely cover the Task Manager scenario. It might not apply to shutting down Windows (if Windows signals Firefox to shut down). Here's where you set that:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the preference to display an editing field, and change the value from 1 to 0 then press Enter or click the blue check mark button to save the change.
