hangs on launch just showing white page
why does ff show 32 gigs of virtual memory consumed by its process

when I launch ff it just hangs forever showing white screen
I have to kill that last tab before ff snaps into action ... it make no matter what was
that last active tab prior to killing ff on launch it repeatedly shows just white screen
I am on Ubuntu 19.04 desktop
firefox nightly 71.0a1 (2019-09-10) (64-bit)
