How do I fix my download button?
I am going to try to be as specific as possible so please bear with me if this is long and/or filled with information you don't need (I don't know what info you need or don't so I'm going to put all I know).
I was downloading a file from Google drive onto my laptop using firefox and I clicked on the downloads button on the toolbar. It worked the first time, I checked how my download was going, and then closed the section that said how it was going, leaving firefox up. About 10ish minutes later, I came back to my computer to check again to see if I would have to restart the download (my internet is weird sometimes and cuts randomly for a second or two during high internet traffic in my area).
Anyways, I click on the downloads button again and it goes grey like it's been clicked, but nothing comes up showing my download. I wait for a few minutes before clicking it again. It stays grey the whole time and has been grey for about 30ish minutes now.
After doing that a few more times (waiting and retrying), I opened up the browser console (ctrl +shift+j) and at the bottom there is a line that begins with a red triangle with a "!" That reads "Downloads: Downloads button cannot be found."
I eventually the downloads to show up by opening the library with ctrl+j, but my download button is still greyed out at the top of my browser doing nothing in the toolbar.
I tried taking it off of the toolbar and putting it back on, which did not work.
What do I need to do?

Hi, I have no idea what OS you are running as you did not say also the info I have is from your phone. In future please post from the system that is having issues. and Share data when asked.
If running Windows please : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer
Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.1 with a Full Version Installer
If running Linux or Mac please try a Refresh but Note that this does more than uninstalling and re-installing does. Normal uninstalling does not remove some preferences which may have become corrupt. Please Refresh but do this 1st: Delete your Cookies and Cache and TEST.
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
then
TEST....... If no issues then Extensions which need to be added back in 1 at a time and tested ..... Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...:
If is your Profile :
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
