Answer to your Highlighted Q .... THERE IS NO Imported from Eudora FOLDER

If there was never an "Imported from Eudora" folder, or any other folder called "Imported", under Thunderbird's "Local Folders", after you imported things from Eudora into Thunderbird, then the e-mail from Eudora was not imported. Period.

Go to Importing from Eudora - Thunderbird, read it carefully, understand it, and figure out what went wrong when you did the import from Eudora.

Nothing else that you say or have tried to say matters.

Eudora folders will not show in the Thunderbird's Troubleshooting information, but said info will show your e-mail account.

Do you mean that you cannot find in Thunderbird the e-mails that were in Eudora? Did you import them? See: Importing from Eudora - Thunderbird

I have all the normal email accounts and mail boxes and all address book info.... Only "missing" displaying is the local folders that were in Eudora as these do not appear in T Bird

I asked two specific, pointed questions so then I will know exactly what you are talking about. You did not answer either one, but repeated what you said before.

I've seen people refer to many completely different things as "local folders"

So answer these two questions, please:

1. Do you mean that you cannot find in Thunderbird the e-mails that were in Eudora?

2. Did you import them? ie. Did you import those e-mails into Thunderbird, when you were importing the other stuff?

All current email accounts have all emails [ inbox + outbox ] that were in Eudora accounts and display correctly

These were "imported" when thunderbird installed.

The "local folders" are ones under "LOCAL FOLDER" heading that I created to park various emails that I keep under various headings.

This folder is listed in Profile found under "troubleshooting information", show folder option in Application basics, when you follow the links, BUT does not display under "local Folders in T Bird.

OK, I think I understand now that you seem to be referring to two completely separate things when you say "Local Folder" or "Local Folders".

Your choice of the folder name "LOCAL FOLDER" is unfortunate, because in Thunderbird, there is a dummy account called "Local Folders", which is separate from any e-mail accounts you create, and it is used to save e-mail only on the computer, separate from the e-mail accounts.

In order to keep things clear from now on, I will call the folder you are concerned with "double2dodge LOCAL FOLDER", and continue to call Thunderbird's "Local Folders" by the name "Local Folders".

When you imported the e-mail from Eudora, all the imported e-mail and folders would have appeared under a folder under Thunderbird's "Local Folders", called "Imported from Eudora". If the e-mails/"double2dodge LOCAL FOLDER" you are looking for are not there, then they were not imported into Thunderbird. Question: Do you see the e-mails you are looking for in the "Imported from Eudora" folder?

When you click on the "Show Folder" button in the Troubleshooting Information window in Thunderbird, it will open a Windows Explorer showing the contents of your Thunderbird Profile folder.

In that folder is a folder called "Mail". Under the "Mail" folder is a folder called "Local Folders". This folder contains the folders and e-mails that are in the "Local Folders" in Thunderbird. This is not your "double2dodge LOCAL FOLDER" that you created in Eudora.

OK... we are getting there .... As you say in "mail" folder there is a "local Folders" dir. This has all the Eudora "Local Folders" information that I want to access and display in T Bird "Local Folders" as displayed in left hand window of Thunderbird.... ... and it does not ...

I asked another question, and again you did not answer it. I even put the question in bold text.

Why do you not answer my questions? Do you think they are stupid, unnecessary, pedantic?

From the very start, you have not been able to communicate clearly what is going on. That's why I ask questions, to try to clarify the situation.

When you refuse to answer my questions, I have to try to guess what you mean and make assumptions. That doesn't usually work well, especially since you don't confirm back that my guesses and assumptions are correct.

I am not a mind reader.

So I'm going to have to assume (maybe incorrectly), that you have looked through every single folder and sub-folder in Thunderbird, and cannot find the e-mails you are looking for. You have not said if you have done this. For all I know, you looked at only the main folder names under Thunderbird's "Local Folders", and didn't see what you are looking for, and not looked any deeper.

If what you are looking for is truly not in any Thunderbird folder or sub-folder, then it wasn't imported from Eudora. Period.

Maybe those e-mails and folders you are talking about were not even in Eudora anymore, but just on your hard drive. So Thunderbird couldn't import them from Eudora, because they were not in Eudora.

Maybe you manually copied those folders and e-mails (which were/are in Eudora format), to Thunderbird's Profile folder. In that case, Thunderbird would have no idea what to do with them, because they are in Eudora's format.

Now I'm going to ask three questions.

If you do not answer them this time, I'm going to give up on you. I am a volunteer here, just like everyone else. I would prefer to help people who actually cooperate.

1. Have you looked through every single folder and sub-folder in Thunderbird for the e-mails you are looking for?

2. Were the e-mails in question in Eudora's main folders when you did the import from Eudora?

3. Did you just move a computer folder containing Eudora e-mails into Thunderbird's Profile folder, hoping that Thunderbird would be able to use them?

Answer to your Highlighted Q .... THERE IS NO Imported from Eudora FOLDER

Q1 YES

Q2 THE EMAILS IN QUESTION WERE IN EUDORA'S "LOCAL FOLDERS SECTION

Q3 NO

Now referring to my last answer.....at the bottom of email account information in left hand frame of thunderbird is a highlighted option [ account ] that says "LOCAL FOLDERS"..... THIS IS THE SAME AS IN EUDORA.

The folders that you create here to store emails you want to keep under various headings IS displayed as previously mentioned when looking at Thunderbird profile as described above and contain the emails I want to access.

The path to this folder is below.. as obtained by thunderbird "troubleshooting information "show Folder" ....

C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\3srs7tl0.default\Mail\Local Folders

... this is the folder that has my information I want to see displayed as a list of sub folders..

.... does this not make sense to you ...??

I apologize for my testy remark. I was frustrated.

I should have said:

Yes, I understand what you are talking about, and your assumptions about what happens when you import e-mail from Eudora are incorrect.

When e-mail is imported into Thunderbird from another e-mail program, said e-mail will show up under Thunderbird's "Local Folders" in a folder called "Imported", or "Imported from Eudora".

You do not have that folder, and you cannot find the e-mails in question anywhere in Thunderbird, thus those e-mails were not imported.

So you have to try again with the import, following the instructions in this article: Importing from Eudora - Thunderbird
