Need help tracking cause of Internet history disappearing daily or more often

My Internet history disappears at least daily and sometimes during the day even when my PC is not turned off. I have attached images of my Firefox settings in the word document attached. Other that Microsoft Edge, I have no other web browser loaded on my machine. My machine is hardwired to my DSL router, not on a wireless network. I have removed Firefox from my PC and downloaded a fresh copy. I am operating with Windows 10 and had been before the disappearing history began occurring. I have searched the Internet for similar issues and found some similar but they were using other operating systems and the occurrences were reported several years ago. I don't know what else to try to isolate the problem and am hoping you might have some suggestions.

Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate Places Maintenance and press the Options button. Then follow the directions.


History and cookies can be removed or not recorded several ways;

  • 1) Running Firefox in Private Mode (nothing is recorded)
  • 2) Privacy settings; (Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar.)
  • 3) Many disk cleaners and anti-virus type programs can remove data from browsers. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.
  • 4) Mal-ware.

Thanks for the reply. I am not running Firefox in the Private mode. I have processed through the Add-ons Manager. I have not used a disk cleaner. I am using Vipre Internet Security 2016 for my anti-virus and malware protection. I discovered that I could not find any options except to erase the history and have logged a ticket with Vipre to investigate if it could be contributing to the cause.

Thanks for your input. I will wait to hear for Vipre and let you know whether I have found a solution.
