How do I get round TB giving "not responding" message on email delete or move of emails between folders (win10)

I have been using TB for a couple of years and from day one I have had problems with deleting emails or moving emails from one folder to another. TB suspends itself for a period (around a minute or so) and gives the "not responding" message in the header bar. Does not happen on every email but on about 1 in 10 of them.

Currently I use TB 38.5.1 and Win 10

I have tried disabling all addons - no effect I have switched anti virus from Free AVG to Avast - no effect

I hesitate to disable antivirus completely but if I do so I will disconnect my network so it will have to be be a short test.

Any ideas of what might be causing the problem and how it might be got round. Regards
