I asked a question a couple of weeks ago but have not had a single reply from Mozilla support. What kind of "support" is this?

I am very frustrated that I often, very often, have to respond more than once, usually many multiple times, to cookie authorisation windows that keep coming up even tho I clicked "do the same for all from this address" (maybe not those words but you know what I mean). I asked for help on this a couple of weeks ago but the only thing I got was several messages asking me to rate the support that was supposed to come from my initial question. How can I respond to such a request when I've had no support from Mozilla?

I'm very surprised, and disappointed, in the lack of help received.

regards,

larry

Hi Larry, sorry about the lack of response. I don't think a lot of volunteers use the "ask me every time" feature. I stopped using it several years ago because, as you point out, it can drive you crazy.

You mentioned here:

When I visit new sites or after clearing cookies for whatever reason and the cookies permission window comes up, I select the option to apply this decision for all cookies from that site. But, many times, I continue to have the window pop up for more cookies from exactly that same site address and have to keep repeating what I'd already selected the first time. It can happen more than 10 times and gets more than a little annoying. How can I prevent this?

My understanding of this is that Firefox generates those dialogs as the page loads, and that can lead to multiple requests stacking up, since each site may have numerous requests. However, over time, the problem should be mostly solved as you store up the settings. No? Maybe that's why I gave up on it...

Your question is probably not answered because no one knows the answer because this is a feature that is hardly used. I've never used that setting and I don't think that it is working properly from what I've seen on the forum during the past years. Maybe look at a cookie manager extension to have better support for special cookie handling. A lot of websites use more than one domains.

The support.mozilla.org/questions/ is not staffed by a call center support sort of system if that is what you thought. It is a community support forum of mainly users helping users.

Thanks to jscher2000, cor-el and James who responded to my plea. I was not aware that Mozilla support is "staffed" by volunteers. I am really cautious, probably more aptly defined as paranoid, re security and controlling cookies seems to me to be one way to help. My settings are to Accept cookies from sites/Never accept third-party cookies/Keep until "Ask me every time". Given that the window that comes up to allow me, supposedly, to control cookies has the switch to set my decision as the same for all cookies from that location, I expect to only have to make that decision one time. But, even when the address is exactly the same, I sometimes have to click on many more (like into the teens!) popups asking me exactly the same question before the page is finally completely loaded. Mozilla should either correct that or remove the option since it simply DOES NOT work.
