I see a "Thunderbird ESR" notice appears when I open my laptop. I searched to see what it means. I'm still confused. 1) where did it come from? 2) is it best for me? I am a senior not interested in lots of changes (except improvements), but I am not an organization. Should I do anything or just leave it?

This email problem is due to a pop-up message in upper left hand corner of screen that shows a pencil followed by the words "Write"=: (no subject) - Thunderbird" with a number of clickable and unclickable options listed below, none of which lead to any access to writing a new email? I booted my system twice and that made no difference. Also when I explored the options listed in the upper left corner of the screen, an old email address came up, which I no longer use more than 10 years ago but have never been able to delete from my system's memory.

I have been having all my email transferred from Yahoo mail for more than a decade, it used to be Frontier net, and i didnt want to change my email, and i havent, so i transfered it on 3 devices because i am very used to the thunderbird format. It still works on my android phone and my HP laptop, but thunderbird will not allow me to sign in to yahoo mail on my PC which is what we use the most for our email, for some reason yahoo made some changes and required a new sign in so i did that on the other 2 devices, however, when the sign in box from yahoo pops up on our PC it always says " OOPS something went wrong" and i called yahoo and they verified it was not them. Which leaves Thunderbird to fix the problem. Please address this as i still Do Not want to change my email address or the Thunderbird Mail which we are used to. I have 5 email addresses on my Thunderbird set up. I want to change the order in which they appear so that the addresses I use most frequently appear at the top. I have tried drag and drop and that does not work and I cannot find a relevant article searching on Support. Any ideas please?

Thunderbird flatpak -1.0 I recently lost the ability to attach files of any kind to messages. when I click the button to attach, no option to choose messages from files are available. I cannot go to the file and share with Thunderbird. I cannot copy a file and attach it. I have tried restarting Thunderbird, and my system (Po_OS Linux) with no result. thanks for the assistance!

Running Windows 11 Home and Tbird 153.4.0esr. Tbird configured with IMAP. I have many years worth of emails stored in my Tbird profile folder. Profile folder is 25 GB.

I want to delete the bodies of all emails in the profile folder but retain the subject lines to minimize the size of the profile folder (while keeping bodies of all emails on the server). Then I can retrieve any email from the server.

Anyone do this successfully without losing emails? Is there a step-by-step procedure for doing this on the Mozilla website? (Google is giving me an Ai answer but not a link to a Mozilla answer.)

I have been struggling to find some messages specific to specific dates and spend an awful amount of time tryomh yo access the correct one.

The solution proposed is a bit unclear to me, as it refers to "future folders". I need to unthread all my messages. Is this possible?

PS The only version number i could find was for Firefox. There does not seem to be one for Thunderbird.

I have Thunderbird configured to log in to 3 separate email accounts, one of which is a Yahoo email account. Several days ago, a message appeared that notified me that Thunderbird would not connect to the imap account in Yahoo. I tried changing the password by logging in to the Yahoo account via my browser, but Thunderbird still gives the error message. Do I need to delete the Yahoo account from Thunderbird and start over, or is there something else that can fix Thunderbird so I can use it for all 3 email accounts? Thank you.

I have had Thunderbird for a number of years on the same Windows 10 laptop. Current version 153.4.0esr (64-bit) updated today/yesterday trying to resolve the issue. I am able to retrieve messages from two accounts one earlier than the other but not to send any message. None of the others either hotmail, live or gmail. I was able to check individually the email inbox directly and all seems correct. I checked the profiles and found only one. Also old Mail folder for pop no longer in use. ImapMail seems to be correct. As I am writing another account has received messages but unable to send any.

This seems really weird! No error messages, or warning , just does not want to behave normally

I am an active member of one of the UK national political parties. Even in California you will be aware that Sir Keir Starmer is no longer the CEO of the Labour Party. Yet every time theteam@labour.org.uk write to me I see this ghost called Sir Keir Starmer appearing as the sender in Thunderbird. I have carried out investigation. Through my originator email system I see The Team identified for those emails. These also show correctly on my Android phone. I am sick of the sight of Sir Keir Starmer. There is a new leader called Andy Burnham. You as in Firefox is ADDING SIR KEIR as an override of the originator. Something is wrong. Please investigate.

Thunderbird did not work last summer so I switched to Daily working similar and fine. One day forwarded messages started to contain a huge list of mail-data (Authentication-Results, DKIM-Signature,..) instead of just time, date, topic, adress. How can I get rid of this? Thank you

Today Thunderbird will not download emails. Yesterday no problem downloading emails.

Windows 10. Thunderbird 153.3.1esr (32-bit) Email is POP3. AV is Malbytesware. I added what I think is the Thunderbird folder to exclusions ("Allow" in Malbytesware). I deleted the global-messages-db.sqlite file. Thunderbird recreated it, but the problem persists. I disabled Malbytesware and still cannot download emails.

Plenty of empty space on my C: drive where Thunderbird lives.

To the best of my knowledge, folder privileges have not changed today from yesterday.

Running Thunderbird as an Administrator does not fix the problem.

I need help to fix this. Please, if you have a suggestion, give me a few "click this..." steps so that I can follow you kind advice without having to come back and ask you again, "How do I do that...?"

I'm moving from Windows to Mac. I exported my Profile from the Windows setup to a ZIP. The import to the Mac seemed to go smoothly but the result is I got all my custom headings I'd nested under Inbox (etc.) but none of the contents. The ZIP is well over 1 gig in size so clearly the export caught all but none of the contents imported. '

For example, under Inbox I created a Heading named Receipts that was populated by receipts from purchases. The import added that heading but none of the emails under that Heading.

I tried simply copying the Profile file from the Windows profile folder to the Mac profile folder but that clearly did not work.

I'm on the edge of desperation here. I'd greatly appreciate any and all help.

I have 2 PlusNet accounts & 1 Yahoo account, which I now use as my main email. The PlusNet email(s) are about to become defunct because I am opting out of it being sold to Greenby. I had both IMAP & POP3 PlusNet accounts on TB. I have managed to delete the IMAP account, but I'm not able to switch my default email to Yahoo (greyed out button) & I'm scared to delete the PlusNet POP3 (or confirm my Greenby opt out) until I've confirmed Yahoo as my default/only email account on TB. I'm not confident Yahoo will automatically become my default if I delete PlusNet POP3.

Thunderbird email says the certificate for my Shaw email server does not come from trusted source. The certificate looks fine. I cannot get Thunderbird to "Add exception". The certificate issue seems to be an intermittent problem since yesterday lunchtime. It started working again yesterday afternoon, but stopped working at lunchtime today. How do I stop this error?

Since our clocks/time went back one hour last weekend, Thunderbird for Mac is displaying the incorrect time. It displays the time as 1 hour ahead, effectively hasn't accepted the time change. The system time is correct, and Thunderbird is set to read system time. I have also tried changing it to "set manually" to our location, it makes no difference. Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm using Thunderbird for Yahoo Emails since many years (it's great!).

In March/April 2026 I changed the Server Settings (authent. method) to OAuth2, it has worked properly.

But since 23.9.2026 I cannot receive Emails in Thunderbird any more (only for the Yahoo account, I have another Email Account working properly in Thunderbird). Bottom text is "Message 1 of 33 will be downloaded", but nothing is downloaded after severals minutes.

My Yahoo Account in the Firefox Browser works properly, its ONLY Thunderbird (and probably OAuth2?). I have removed my Oauth2 Password in saved password of Thunderbird and generated a new one, but that does not help.

So if this issue cannot be solved, I will use another Email Program instead of Thunderbird!

I'm confident that this is not a Spectrum/Charter issue as I can log into their webmail client and send mail. I can also use the Mail app on my iPhone and send mail from my user@san.rr.com account. My settings are below and have not changed in many months (when SMTP was still working). I've also checked "Saved Logins" and verified that there are entries for IMAP and SMTP and that the password for both is the same and is correct.

This issue started last week on my Windows 11 PC (which has had updates paused since last month). I was previously using TB 128 and have subsequently updated to 140 and repaired my inbox trying to find this issue. When I attempt to send a message, I see "Status" Sending Message..." and a blue progress bar that never changes (TB_sending.png). The dialog box remains frozen for multiple minutes. I had seen a connection error message to SMTP in the past, but it usually disappeared the same day (see other screenshots). It feels like TB is not making a good STARTTLS handshake with mail.twc.com. I've tried switching to SSL/TLS port 465 and that has the same issues.
