Since upgrading to v4.0.1 the formatting of pages is regulalry lost resulting in a page that lacks images and style. There is no pattern such as particular web sites and the issue can normally be overcome by hitting CTRL+F5 but this is becoming tedious. The problem does not occur in other browsers such as IE, and never happened in v3.x. I have seen various postings about this so obviously other people are experiencing the same issue.

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)

Hit the ALT key to turn on the text links at the top, then click View | Page Style and choose "Basic Page Style".

If the ALT key doesn't turn on the text links, right click a blank part of the Tab bar and choose "Menu Bar" at the top. You can reinstate the orange Firefox button by reversing the procedure.

If you have "No Style" selected, the page will display the way you see it in the screenshot on the left. The one on the right was taken with "Basic Page Style" selected.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Yes, I have been using CTRL+F5 but this has only been necessary since upgrading to v4 and it is tedious constantly to have to do this.

Basic page style is selected so I don't think this is the issue.

Thanks. I will do as you suggest.
