McAfee malware added several days ago
McAfee malware has entered the firefox browser a couple of days ago claiming viruses have been detected & requires me to click on their popup to remove it. Additional warning follow and reoccur every couple of minutes. I don’t have McAfee Anti-virus software on my computer & have not installed any new software for some time. The anti-software I have works fine (Spybot & Microsoft Security Essentials) and detects no problems. The first application I initiate upon boot-up each morning is Firefox and that’s when the problem begins. It is somehow related to Firefox. I cannot find any processes in play.
I can open Chrome with no problems (however, Chrome no longer supports Windows 7. I’m using Windows 7 Pro. I tried all the free malware scanning programs suggested but nothing found.
I cannot find any link to Firefox Desktop Support as you suggested. Can you please forward this email to that support team.
Sincerely, [removed email and phone# from public support forum], Florida

It looks like you are getting Web Push Notifications which can sometimes be fake malware alerts or fake alerts by some antivirus client like McAfee from sites you interacted with.

Btw this is a Support Forum and not some form of direct ticket, chat or email system so you should not post your email and phone# in public. There is no direct support for the Firefox web browsers on desktop, iOS, and Android though there is a direct ticket system for Mozilla subscription based products like Mozilla VPN.
Also so you know, Firefox 115.15.0esr in September will be the last planned update so the EOL Windows 7, 8, 8.1 users will no longer be supported by any major web browser after. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-users-windows-7-8-and-81-moving-extended-support
