Why make Firefox unusable once an update is done in the background?

This one thing makes we simply switch to a different browser. Firefox, downloads and installs updates in the background. OK. It needs a browser restart to be able to setup the update. Not great but OK. But suddenly it would completely disable the user from not using the browser until an update is performed (See Image). But why? Not OK!

I am totally fine with the browser needing a restart to finish update. But why wouldn't Firefox not let me decide when I want that. Until I am ready let me use the browser. I really wish they don't freeze the browser like that.

Is there someone looking to address this issue in a future version? Is this only happening to me?
