I am currently running Firefox 39.0. A few days ago, I started receiving the (Not Responding) at the left top of the page. The screen would white out, and either resume or I would have to close the browser.

What is interesting is it only happens on a few web sites, not using Firefox in general. The only change I made to the PC is I had to re-download and re-install McAfee Total Protection.

Any ideas or solutions would be helpful. Thanks so much.

Issues have been previously linked to the McAfee Site Advisor extension. Try to disable it and see if the problem persists.

To disable it: Type "about:addons" in the Location bar Find the extension and click on its "Disable" button

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

I will give that a now, and let you know if I still have issues. Thank you for your response, I appreciate you taking the time to write back.

Fred, thank you for your reply. I did have a chance to do that, and it did correct the problem. Without the Webadvisor software on, do you think the protection would work fine with the firewall vs seeing what sites are rated?

Sorry for the delay, I lost my internet for two weeks.

You will need to talk to Mac support, but the main program should not be affected.
