I frequently download excel worksheet files in the format of .xlsx The extension is not found in the Firefox options-files and applications-applications content type. It is not an option to choose this to save the file in a particular location--see attached screen shot. If it is under another name please let me know. There is an option to download excel worksheet files--only 97-2003, xlsx is an Excel 2016 worksheet. Why isnt this updated with the latest version of Firefox: 85.0.2 which I am using? Even if I select 'use excel 2016 (default)'--screen shot 2/ it does not have the option to remember where to save the file--only to open with or save, like the option for other files.--screenshot 3.

I just want it to always save to desktop.

tl;dr - Refreshed Firefox, most of my profile has restored normally, but not Bookmarks (or Browsing History). I cannot restore Bookmarks from the .json backups, and I do not have an HTML backup.

Firefox would not load any pages this morning, even after updating to most recent version (89) and restarting the app then the entire computer, so I refreshed Firefox. Good news is, pages load now! Bad news is my bookmarks all disappeared, and they were still gone even after I made the Bookmarks Toolbar visible. The Import Bookmarks button only gives me the option to import from Internet Explorer or Chrome, but not from previous version of Firefox.

I went to Manage Bookmarks, and the Import and Backup seems to have some recent bookmark back-ups, giving me options for back-ups from today (Monday) then Saturday (last new bookmark), etc. But when I try to import bookmarks this way, it says Unable to process the backup file. My Firefox profile has backups, but only as .json files, no HTML bookmark files, which is the only other importing option. The rest of my profile seems to have imported fine - when I go to my inboxes or regularly visited websites, I'm still logged in.

Strangely, Firefox also seems to have forgotten my browsing history. In the URL bar, it'll show my search history, but not my visited pages, which makes the lack of Bookmarks even more aggravating and harder to deal with.

Edit: I restarted the app again and this time, my bookmarks were in place, and my browsing history is back when I type into the URL bar. I do not know how to mark this question as solved or delete this question.

I have the volume control all the way up. I turn the volume control on videos all the way up. I have just updated Firefox. The sound is too low. Is there an add-on? It used to be OK, not now.

Since sometime in August 2021, I suspect after an update, occasionally when I launch Firefox it reports that it was unable to restore a previous session. I do not have the option to open previous sessions selected. On other occasions it starts properly with a blank page as it is configured to do.

Am I missing a setting?

It is not a major problem, I can simply enter a URL or search string in the address bar and it works properly for the rest of the session.

It is happening both on my Windows 8.1 Pro and Windows 10 Pro PCs running the 64-bit version of Firefox.

After your latest update you broke the bookmark star function. This is key to my role in my job and if it is not fixed in a reasonable amount of time then I will have to switch back to Chrome. The instructions say to right click the 3 dots but it does not offer up anything when done. Add to address bar is the only thing that shows up when you do right click on the 3 dots instead of add to address bar like the article says. Please fix this ASAP!!!!

I can't find anything about a compromised Firefox update while using the browser when you go to help and let the browser update itself. It seems you've been hacked because I can't otherwise explain the firefox background update 308046BoAF4A39CB, which is been detected by my systems. I obviously have more information about this if you like, but I see nowhere how to report this properly. This is the first time this has happened to me, at least as far as I know and so far I've only detected the Tr.Gen threat on my Windows computers. I would like an adequate response from Mozilla on how this could happen and what the repercussions are plus how to avoid this in the future. I've been using the Firefox browser on all my systems with various operating systems and would prefer to keep using it, but not if your own updating process is comprimised. I also think it's idiotic that I can't upload a bigger screenshot than 1024 kb because my very relevant picture is 3084 kb in size.

I'm in Amazon.com web site I have tried to play a video that I rented on line, but I get a message that reads (Firefox is installing components needed to play the audio or video on this page) please try again later. which have for the last two days since installing firefox as my net browser. What can I do to improve this or have the components install sooner? any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

blocked access to website. I can't access a website for software I use to sign into my account there to send a request. I unblocked it in the settings - cookies - but it still keeps me from opening it. this is the message on the screen "Cookies required to use Firefox To continue signing in using Firefox, allow cookies to be stored on this device. You might see this screen more than once."

So I go to Bing but I would prefer to use firefox. Why is it so hard to release a website??? What is the problem? Edith

Hello Firefox, How do I get the white scissors screenshot to work? When I download the photo I want to save to My Documents and open the containing folder, all I see is a saved blue screen. Please help! Malcolm.

In Firefox's toolbar there is an unknown ad blocker named Ad Blocker. This is NOT Ad Block.

This supposed ad blocker is not blocking ads and cannot be uninstalled; it does not show up as an extension or add-on.

I also interferes with other ad blockers like Ad Block, so I had to uninstall the latter

The symbol for this Ad Blocker in the menu/toolbar at the top is a shadowed, almost invisible, backward hand, the mirror opposite of the hand symbol Ad Block uses as its insignia.

I cannot find any information about this Ad Blocker ad blocker online.

Does anyone know about it and how to get rid of it?

Also - I've run three version of anti-malware software and none found it or got rid of it.

The search engines I've added do not appear in the list after clicking the green + sign in the search box and they do not appear in the list in the options either. I used the "add more search engines" found in the bottom of the search engines list to find the missing engines and add them again, but when I find the engine I want to add there is only the "remove" button. So this tells me the missing engines in the list are still there but not accessible. I tried removing the added search engine and then adding it again but this did not make them appear in the search engine list. Everything was working fine until getting the last update before Firefox 89. Is there a way to fix this???

With the last update the Bookmarks have a wide distance when listed. Too wide! I have to scroll down endlessly to find things. Before they were neatly narrow and you could see twice as much. Kindly repair this next time please. Or can I do this? Best Ursula Zürich

Today my Firefox upgraded to 89.0. The new update has resized the toolbar etc at the top of my browser. Because it's now bigger my theme no longer fits, so I have an ugly blank bar that goes right across my bookmarks. The problem seems to be that the tabs area has increased in size. How can I resize this so that my theme fits again?
