Firefox 35.0.1; windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit The only 'always activate' plug-ins are Acrobat and (either) Shockwave or Silverlight (not both).

FF web audio had been working. Now, video still works, but no sound - in particular, YouTube. However, audio does work fine if I open a FF 'private window' - same page, same FF; but there, it works. I had this same problem before, and it cleared after uninstalling/reinstalling Shockwave. This time, no luck with that. And, emphatically, I now see that Both Shockwave (16.0.0.305) and Silverlight plug-ins do the same thing. That seems to say that Shockwave is not the problem.

The Windows 'mixer' settings look fine.

Summary: - No audio from FF - ... except, if I open a 'private window'; Audio there works fine. - Same problem with either Shockwave or Silverlight plug-in - I have re-installed Shockwave, anyway.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Firefox has been working like a dream for as long as I've had it - until two days ago. It suddenly stopped linking to http sites. Still works for https sites, though. This problem does not exist in Safari (but I prefer Firefox!).

Did some digging and can already tell you that: (1) no additional security software were ever installed. (2) No changes were made to the internet connection settings. (3) Wifi connection is strong and fully functional (as it has always been)

I followed the "refresh" procedure recommended on this forum - still no luck. I am the only person working on both devices mentioned below. They are not networked. They are only for personal use at home, or when traveling (the laptop).

The default Google search from the search box is set as google.com. This forces the location to be set as US. I would like to use google.co.nz instead so that my location is recognised as New Zealand. Tried using ABOUT: CONFIG to change the settings for "browser.search.defaulturl" and "keyword.url" to "google.co.nz" but this had no effect. How can I get this change implemented?

I believe prior to Firefox 35 I was able to open local links to mp4 files and Firefox would prompt me for what to do (Open, Save, etc.). Now local links to mp4 files always open in the embedded Firefox video player with no option to do otherwise. I have tried setting 'media.windows-media-foundation.enabled' to 'false' and it has no effect on local links to mp4 files. All other common video formats that I have tested (e.g. avi, mpg, wmv) prompt me for what to do, as is the expected behavior.

To reproduce:

1.) Enter in url: file://///path/to/video.mp4 2.) Observe that the file opens in the embedded video player with no option to do otherwise

I decided to check on the "tiles," about which I knew nothing before now. Today, I noticed that Firefox knows exactly the number of messages I have at Facebook. If my collected data is in the aggregate, without any identifying information, how the hell do you know this? Opting out now, but I am very surprised to learn this.

Hello. Yesterday I updated my Firefox, and it did not import my bookmarks. I saved them as a JSON file. In the restore menu it does pull up all the previous restore points, but when I try to restore/import any of them, the browser freezes and I get a message similar to the one I'm attaching. I have tried everything I read to do in the forums...deleting the places.sqlite file, adding the Places Maintenance & Auto-Sort Bookmarks. I've tried a System Restore to revert to my older version (which works, but the bookmarks are gone now and the problem persists)....nothing is fixing the problem and I am very sad to lose my several years' worth of bookmarks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have Linux Mint 17.1, and Firefox 35.0.1, and I tried to update Shockwave, Adobe says no more updates, "https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2014-9163" says problem is with 11.2.202.425. I have version 11.2.202.440. Why is my latest version blocked and removed from my pc?

I have scoured support forums, but still no solution for this. Can anyone post what they have done besides the new>string xpinstall enabled set value true, that was previously posted, it didn't work. I am looking for a way to install my persona's themes. I have tried many different things, but so far nothing is working, this also happens on other websites, but my focus is just fixing for personas. I am not going to use 36 ff because it is highly problematic, for now staying with 35, have windows 7 computer. Any ideas? Going through safe mode is NOT a solution. Any other idea's? Persona's is part of the Mozilla schematic so it has worked and just recently noticed its not working. I did try turning off adblock and it makes no difference. I have cleared cookies/history, still NADA.

I asked this yesterday thinking I would get an answer via email but I guess it doesn't work that way so I'll try again now and stay on this site awhile hoping to get an answer. I have Firefox set up to automatically update but it doesn't. Every time I start the computer, before too long, there is a popup box that tells me to update to version 45.0.2 When I click on "update and install, it says,"connecting to update server." but it never connects no matter how much time I give it. Suggestions please.

After I updated the Java Adobe Flash yesterday, the function for checking plug-ins for updates was okay. This morning, it just sits there and spins without doing anything.

Firefox keeps block return to a search page in free Reg ( parish registers) i an go to first first list of search results but after opening for more detail I get Document expired for my own safety and document has not been saved in cache very annoying. How do I urn this off please.

When trying to open gmail I get a "Problem loading page" (see the image for more info). Firefox suggests disabling or enabling cookies and I've tried that but it didn't work. I've seen other similar questions but none of them had an answer. Thank you for your time.

As of today something on Ebay has changed in the coding that affects only Firefox, 35.0.1. OSX

Before today all descriptions of items and photos showed normally, now suddenly there is a "see full item description"

button, this ONLY displays to me in firefox, if I view any pages on Ebay with any other browser- Safari, Chrome etc the pages all display correctly.

Ad block I disabled and tested with it off, no difference, ditto for the cookie blocker, on or off makes no difference.

after years of working with yahoo mail in firefox, i have difficulty accessing my yahoo mail.

i have followed the instructions for clearing the caches, deleting and reinstalling firefox, these do not work. i have made certain that yahoo pop-ups and yahoo mail pop-ups are allowed.

all updates have been applied.

the problem on started on 02-01-2015.

I had just refreshed my computer and I am in the process of reinstalling my add-ons, but i can't access the " get Add-ons' page. I have tried all the suggested troubleshooting methods. and still get: Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to services.addons.mozilla.org. Peer's Certificate has been revoked. (Error code: sec_error_revoked_certificate)

Some JPEGs seem to be downloaded fine by Firefox, but they don't render completely. A progressive JPEG will remain very coarse, and a non-progressive JPEG will be missing the bottom part. From all the things I have tried, I believe this might be a rendering bug in Firefox. Specifically:

• The images are downloaded fine. The page loading does not stall but finish immediately. If I right click the image and click "View image", it is displayed completely. If I open the Media tab of the Page information dialogue and look at the image there, it is displayed completely as well. Most curiously, if I use the Color picker tool and hover over where the rest of the image *should* be, it displays the actual image pixels in the raster and also returns the correct color value of the image pixels, while the main browser window still renders these regions as transparent. I have added a snapshot of this case to this post. Hence, the problem also doesn't seem to be a CSS/layout issue of the page (Page inspector shows the img block correctly).
• Clearing all cache and cookie data, then restarting Firefox in safe mode doesn't make a difference. I even installed a vanilla Firefox to a fresh virtual machine, and experienced the same problem when opening these pages. Other browsers (tested: Opera, Chrome, IE) don't show the same issue.
• Reloading with forced cache renewal (Ctrl+Shift+R) most often doesn't change the rendering of the image, but rarely will end up displaying it either more or less incompletely than before.
• I can see the issue happening with two images on two separate pages. I re-encoded these using different software and different settings, but the problem persisted, so it doesn't seem to be an issue of corrupt images.
• I created a toy example to try and replicate the issue: an identical page with a different image created specifically to try and trigger the issue. What I found is that the issue is only triggered once the JPEG file is above a certain size (somewhere between 15 and 40 kB minimum). What happens seems to be that the rendering of the image in the main browser window stops after reading the image up to a certain length. Though again, the image seems to be loaded into cache and memory completely as evidenced by the display when using View image or Page information.

I did three versions of the test page to try and replicate the issue. The first page's image is 11 kB and always seems to render completely. The second and third page's images are 102 kB and 107 kB in size respectively, and will usually render incompletely. The image on page 2 uses progressive encoding, so the image will end up being rendered blurred. The image on page 3 uses straight encoding, so the image will end up being rendered with the bottom part missing.

So far I'm not sure why I only encountered this issue on pages of one specific website. Something must be triggering it, but it doesn't seem to be an issue with the server, the page, or the images.

Update: I submitted the site to Browsershots, requesting renderings for Firefox 35.0 and one earlier version for each of Windows, Linux and Mac. Unfortunately, the renderings for Mac failed. As for the others, none of the pre-35.0 versions exhibit the rendering issue, and it's not present in Firefox 35.0 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, but shows up on Firefox 35.0 on Windows 2008 R2. (Do Ctrl+Shift+R a few times if the issue doesn't seem to show, to be sure. If by a fluke I can get it to render correctly, it will fail again after 2-3 reloads at most.
