For the last couple of months I have had problems streaming some of the channels that come via Sling when I try to watch them on my Dell Latitude E5450 laptop. I can see them fine on my regular t.v. but now not on the laptop. That's a huge change in the last few months because for years I could stream every Sling channel to my laptop. Since my t.v. does not use Firefox, that suggests the problem is something Firefox has done. Not surprising, I guess. Probably happened when it was fixing some other something it screwed up. Nonetheless, any ideas for how to resolve this WITHIN Firefox capabilities? (And don't suggest it's Sling's fault. Sling streams just fine, thank you very much, in Edge.)

Hi,

The primary e-mail on my account has been hacked for over a decade. I just did a fresh install in Windows not realizing I wouldn't be able to sign in to my Firefox account using my current e-mail because apparently my current e-mail is "not the primary account holder e-mail". Now I imagine I would have added it as a backup e-mail for the case of if I couldn't access my primary e-mail (which as I've said I haven't been able to do since approximately 2011 or so) but there isn't even an option to send the confirmation to the backup e-mail in that case. I'm really tired of going through this on every website I signed up on prior to our e-mails getting hacked. Is there a way we can just change the owner to the other e-mail so I can get back into my account please?

When I play a video or audio, the audio stops abruptly if i add a new tab or switch between tab. This is of recent nature. There is no yellow marks on the device manager. When I click the sound is totally gone. I have not changed any settings. I tried a thread solution of making false in auto pref media in about:config. But that does notfix the problem. why this happens and how to fix it I was adding speakers to a pc after quite long time and the sound plays well. But i could not hear the audio if i change the tab or add a new tab

I thought I'd give the Foxfire a try on my Windows 10 laptop, so I downloaded and created an account, etc. All worked fine until I tried to use my desktop shortcuts to open Chrome, Google Photos and Gmail. Non would open. I then opened Google and found my sync was off. I tried to sign in and could not sign into my Google Account, I then spent several hours with Google support trying to find the problem. At last, it allowed me to sign in and restore all my Google account items. I then uninstalled Firefox as I didn't want to go thru this problem again.

Does anyone know why this occurred and how to avoid it again if I were to want to reinstall Foxfire?

Thanks for the help.

Here is one of my crash IDs: bp-f9625951-7706-43b0-8a7f-6f0ae0230129

Since dealing with an issue with my laptop running Linux Mint 20.3 Cinnamon 64-bit involving a mergelist error and packages with missing names, Firefox randomly crashes. Sometimes when it crashes it does it immediately every time I try to open it back up (sometimes even in safe mode), and other times it gets better after a reboot. I just installed the Flatpack version after the original one I had started crashing, so it is strange if it is an issue that just needs reinstalling Firefox, but other apps seem ok so I don't know that it's my OS.

I've tried looking for residual damage on my laptop after the earlier issue, but I can't find much information. System Reports tells me nothing is wrong and I can't make sense of syslogs.

Thank you for reading, I wish I had more details. If the crash report has any clues, please let me know.

Hardware: iMac 5K, 27-inch, 2017 macOS: Ventura 13.2 Firefox: 109.0.dmg File Type: Disk Image

For an unknown reason my Firefox browser locked up in the middle of a session. A full system re-start failed to fix the problem – all other software Apple Safari, Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop and Microsoft Office etc. continue to work as normal. Both Bitdefender and Malwarebytes full system scans have failed to identify any security issues.

To remove any possibility there was a macOS issue I successfully recovered the operating system from the mac in Recovery mode.

As the Firefox app would still not respond to the normal app opening process I removed the failed app from the mac “Applications” folder using the AppCleaner app and downloaded a new Firefox app file from the Mozilla Firefox site. I then dragged the downloaded file to the mac “Applications” folder and while holding the control key Ejected “Firefox” from the menu - the “Firefox” named disk icon on the mac screen and showing in the Finder “Locations” disappeared. Following this I successfully dragged Firefox from the “Applications” folder to the dock.

When the Firefox icon in the dock or in the Applications folder are selected the error message appears: The application “Firefox.app” can’t be opened. Repeated deletion of the Firefox app from the mac, restarting the mac, re-downloading the Mozilla Firefox app etc. etc. has resulted in the same failure. In the interim I am using Safari for the web but want to resume using Firefox asap due to Safari’s limitations.

Am I missing something in the Firefox installation procedure or there is an unrecognised security bug in the system? This is the first time I have had any issue arise with a Firefox installation process on either Windows or Apple systems.

Grateful for any advice.

I've started getting this error message on certain websites (always the same ones):

The page isn’t redirecting properly

An error occurred during a connection to www.manek.org.uk.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

The same websites still work fine on Firefox mobile, so it's nothing inherent in the sites themselves.

I have only noticed this in the last few days. I had just updated Firefox to version 109 – but it's not specific to one version of Firefox either, as I tried on one of my Macs which hadn't updated yet and is still on version 107, and the issue was replicated exactly the same.

I have tried clearing the cache, restarting Firefox, etc.

Can anyone help me resolve this? Some of these are websites I use quite a lot for my work, and it's frustrating to have to do anything just on my phone.

I have been using FireFox from the beginning, and it is still my browser of choice. Nonetheless, I still see some ways in which the interface would be better. In the long past, I'd been able to put some XML/XUL CSS code in userchrome.css to make these better, at least for me. However, 5-10 years ago, changes in FireFox broke these changes. For the past 5-10 years, I would occasionally get some time to tweak my userchrome.css with information find on this forum or elsewhere online. But every time I found some code snippets, FireFox had changed enough that they didn't work anymore. This is concerning in that the structure and codebase is changing relatively frequently and it's hard to find out how this affects these code snippets.

The two userchrome tweaks i would really like are (a) showing only icons on the bookmarks toolbar, and (b) having the tabs right next to the main window.

Full disclosure: I am not an IT professional, but I started off coding in machine code and only then was allowed to code in A86 assembler. I have had a long interest in user interaction design. I'm a physician and medical school professor, so my interest is primarily in medical software. But I've helped organize some international symposia on the usability of medical software at which I have also lectured, have a blog devoted to the subject, and I was awarded the first annual Lifetime Achievement Award by the Informatics Section of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

So, now for an observation. I have a file cabinet drawer filled with paper records that I need to keep in paper form (as opposed to my usual scanning to PDF. These papers are sorted into file folders. I do not cut the tabs off of all of my folders and put them in a pile somewhere else. Which is why I want my tabs to visually connect to the content in each "folder" by being next to them.

And as far as the Bookmarks Toolbar: I realize the importance of positional memory. I want to have my most important bookmarks on the screen – lots of them – where I can click on them easily. Easily in this case means not having to read text, but being able to automatically move my mouse cursor to about the right place and then refine my click by recognizing the graphic icon for that website.

The best solution would be for the fireFox coders to think about these things, come around to my way of thinking (which OBVIOUSLY has to be right), and make changes in the codebase to make observe these UX principles, and make the appropriate changes in the user interface. Or at least make them options in the user interface. Or at the very least, post in an obvious place changes to the underlying structure that kills userchrome coding (with suggestions how to change the code to work in the new architecture) so that those who are not immersed in the innards of FireFox like me have a fighting chance to improve the interface, at least for a few of us.

I do my Firefox updates manually. I am currently using version 108.0.2. When I click on "about", it says I should "Update to Partner Removal". It usually tells me to update to the next version that is available. What is Partner Removal? Is it a legitimate update? I can't find anything on the website regarding this. Why does it not tell me to update to version 109?

Thank you for your help.

I recently had hard drive problems and during the ensuing melee, I discovered that Firefox has stored well over 100k files with the general name {xxx...}.final. Being the curious sort--and given that these boogers are taking up almost 1Gb--I looked at a few and they appear to be related to websites that I visited. I can see keeping some recent things around, but some of this goes back, literally, to the day I bought my PC. Um...that's a lot of files and a lot of space for places I visited once and will never go to again. Some of the websites no longer exist, so obviously those files are wasted space.

I am unable to find much about this on the web, either via Google or the help here. A few people have brought it up, but no one seems to know what to do. The help here goes nuts with the search term "final" and brings up a plethora of hits containing "finally" and so forth, but nothing useful. "}.final" isn't much help, either.

The path is C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile name>\storage\default

Questions: 1) Can some or all of this be deleted? 2) Is there a way to tell Firefox not to be so anal about keeping so many useless things?

Given the sheer quantity of these things, it would make future backup/restores easier if I could trim some of the fat, but I don't want to mess things up, either.

Thanks...

After updating to 109.0 Firefox won't open on primary monitor. I have moved it, closed it, but it restarts back on secondary monitor. After I move it to primary monitor, if I open another browser window it opens on the primary. I have renamed the xulstore.json file(so it creates a new one) but that did not help. It was working fine before the 109.0 update. I also have chrome installed and it works fine the way it should, so I'm thinking it is a Firefox 109.0 problem.

At TenForums, with Firefox 109, scrolling in the message field scrolls the whole page. This is not a problem in Chrome.

I haven't tested in earlier versions of Firefox, however I believe this has been an issue, in the least, with recent previous Firefox versions as well. The only way to scroll the message field separately is to use the scroll bar. I don't recall it always being like this.

Ia this a Firefox Problem, or a website issue? I don't have that problem here.
