I have tried to up-date firefox on my system which is a 32-bit but with no success any help would be appreciated.
It appears that it is downloading but when it is completed it does not update my old version. There is probably a step or two that i am not completing.

Hi,
It is best to update Firefox via the software updater/update manager of the OS. This will usually ensure that all the dependencies are satisfied, and/or updated simultaneously. If it is a custom Firefox installation, please see this for the minimum requirements for the latest version. The support forums of the specific distro would also be helpful.
