I have downloaded 9.0.1 3 different times. That is all that happens. There is nothing telling me how to install the new version. I have gone to different community forums 7-8 times. No one has the same problem as I do. I have asked FIREFOX for a chat room or a phone number to speak with a tech support person. My request was ignored. There seems to be a problem with FIREFOX not providing enough information to upgrade and then just allowing the user to flounder around trying to work out how to do it. I have tried several times to install . . . but when there is no information directing how to install it seems that FIREFOX does not care if it is upgraded or not. I have 3.6.1 and i am totally happy with it. It works perfectly 99% of the time. Why fix something that is not broken??!!! From what I have seen there are hundreds of people who have installed 9.0.1 and have nothing but trouble of a variety of different types. Given 3-4 minutes on the phone with tech support this entire problem would be solved. But all you do is ignore my request and try to send me somewhere else. If this situation cannot be solved and 9.0.1 installed and working properly I will have no choice but to leave FIREFOX and use INTERNET EXPLORER. I have been a loyal user of FIREFOX for almost 10 years. You decide what you wish me to do.

You say that you have Firefox 3.6.1 installed, yet the UserAgent if the browser you used to post here says Firefox 3.5.3. Different PC?
Your UserAgent string in Firefox is probably messed up by another program that you installed.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent
type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Filter = general.useragent.
Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset.
Then restart Firefox

Sorry, Mozilla doesn't offer support by telephone for its software. Very common for free, open support software which usually relies upon user to user support.

As far a "chat" - currently not available as new software is being condsidered and implemented. IMO, when it was working in the past the hours it was open wasn't exactly convenient for either the Firefox users needing support or the users who provided that support.

As far as your perception of "hundreds of users" having problems with 9.0.1, there are 10's of thousands or millions of users not having those problems.

You said we have ignored you? Doing a search for kanoer2000 reveals no other postings under "questions" or "answers" for that login name.

Swarnava, he already download it several times.

kanoer2000, You actually may have Firefox 9.0.1 installed.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3

Your user agent according to more system details link on right of your post. The user agent getting stuck was not a issue as of Firefox 4.0 and newer.

See this on how to reset to default. https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/websites+or+add-ons+incorrectly+report+incompatible+browser#w_reset-your-user-agent

I am having the very same issue. I did as you suggested with the "about:config," rec'd the warning. There were no preferences that were bolded. Poof, there.

Me Too.

Its tragic. Another loyal - but not all that tech-savy Firefox user and I am going to have to move to either 'MS ie Bong' (Urgh....) or 'Boogle Crumb' (not keen but least bad of the pair).

Neither appeals but I can't fix this Firefox problem - Repeatedly I have uninstalled duff versions of Ffox 9 then reinstalled it. Every time I install it I click Open, something flashes across the screen & vanishes. I click on the Quick launch Icon & it shows a miniaturised version of Ffox like it was running. Weird.

And when I look for help I see screeds and screeds of tech-speak. I want to use a browser not learn software support!

I think the problem is the techy Geeks who have til now done genuinely good job with Firefox have stopped understanding ordinary peasants like me don't WANT to dig around in the computers innards - its a tool not an end in itself.

So I thought OK ... I will revert to version 8 - Problem solved.

But No The links only go to version 3 Its like Mozilla fenced off the option to revert to version that works.

Why would they do that?

Have they been infiltrated by some loon sabboteur? Maybe paid by one of the other Browser providers?

Yeah it *sounds* paranoid .... But its the most logical explanation why SO MANY THINGS ARE SCREWED UP WITH FIREFOX.

If I was running Mozilla I'd be playing 'Hunt the Mole' pretty urgently.

But I'm not. So I'm off to play 'Hunt for a different Browser' instead. I'm sad about it. But what's the choice now?
