Where has the cursor gone in the Google search bar?

When I open my hompage in Firefox, which is the simple Google search box, the flashing cursor is no longer present. If I go to the same website with IE 9, the cursor is there; it is only when I open the website with Firefox this happens. Also, if I select another tab (eg images) on the Google webpage, the cursor is OK; it is only the web tab which loses the cursor when opened in Firefox. (Nb. This problem does not exist on my other computer)
