Pop-up windows continue to appear. When I select the Options for Content the Block pop-up windows box is not checked. It must be re-checked each time I start Firefox.

Your Help information says " Pop-up blocking is turned on by default, so you don't have to worry about enabling it to prevent pop-ups from appearing in Firefox. "

You may not be looking in the right place for the profile folder, there are quite a few files with .js extension in the profile folder.

In the help menu select "Troubleshooting Information", in the troubleshooting tab click on the "Open Containing Folder" button to open the profile folder.
