firefox will not open - no error message - nothing happens

Yesterday, Firefox closed suddenly. Then I couldn't open it again. There was no error message, nothing happend or worked. (I have the same Problem with Opera.Only internet Explorer is still working.)

the Profile Manager didn't open. I looked in the task Manager: Firefox was not opened.

So I tried to reinstall Firefox. I deinstalled it, copied all personal data, deleted them in the original folder. downloaded the install-program from the Mozilla-page. But it will not open too. for 2 sec. there opens a window " 0% extracting" then it is already closed. I do not know if there is a connection between the "firefox does not open" and "installation will not open" Problems.

I have Windows XP SP2. I would be so glad, if you could help me. Thanks a lot

Sounds quite weird that you can't open profile manager or launch the official Mozilla installer. Probably try to reboot, and to scan for malware?

If you can, please give more information about what was happening at the moment of the crash. Did the crash reporter start, and can you retrieve your crash ID?

I have the Answer: It was indeed malware. (thank you for the tip, Gryllida) 

I had a trojan, which messed up my windows configurations...

It's no Mozilla error. It closed my firewall and my Guard Programs.

I have to reinstall Windows I think...
