Hey all,

after 3 years I finally did a complete reset (all folders were kept, only full software reset) of my system hoping that Firefox Sync would after I reinstall Firefox and put in my registration data remember all my bookmarks / logins. However, after my login there is nothing there. I have the suspicion that Firefox thinks I just deleted all my bookmarks and it updated to Firefox Sync accordingly not with an empty space. I still have the data on my android phone which hasnt done a synchronization yet. Any help you guys can give me? Took quite some time to get all my setup arranged.

Thanks in advance!

Best, Seb

Alright - if somebody has the problem - windows.old on C drive has still all the data. You just need to un-hide hidden data in the folder options and the look for C:\Windows.old\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ Just delete the contents (not the profile folder itself) of your CURRENT profile on your drive in: C:\Users\Sebastian\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles (see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data to find your current active profile) and just copy / paste all the information from your OLD profile in windows.old. Back to normal again. Why cant the information of the sync be stored online? Or cant there be a warning that the information gets immediately over-written?

Note that you are in the wrong location. The main profile folder with your personal data is in "AppData\Roaming".

Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder. One location for your personal data (e.g. bookmarks) and another location for temporary files like the disk cache, so make sure to look in the correct location.

Location used for the main profile that keeps your personal data (Root Directory on about:profiles).

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>

Location used for the disk cache and other temporary files (Local Directory on about:profiles).

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>
