Each time I open FF it opens as if I've just installed it. It appears in the applications folder as an alias and the disk image opens.

Make sure Firefox gets installed properly.

Open the Firefox Disk Image file and drag the Firefox application to the Applications folder on your hard drive. You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the Disk Image, but instead drag it out of the DMG folder.

Thanks for the prompt response. Perhaps I wasn't clear, but I exactly what you said to do several times. The problem persists.

Try to download the full version and trash the currently installed Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.

Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the Disk Image file to the desktop Firefox 72.0.2:

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

Did as you said. Trashed everything including FF profile folder, since I can't use FF anyway. FF is still installed as an alias. Whenever I click to open the alias the disc image appears and the message box warning that this is an application downloaded from the internet appears.
