The question and an old answer are in the attached screenshot. The answer does not correspond to what appears in modern Firefox.

Moreover, clicking the star which used to let me bookmark a page no longer seems to do anything useful. I'm on Windows 10, using Firefox 71.0 64-bit, and it says it's up-to-date.

Further info: I tried this on Ubuntu, and the star worked fine. I wonder what's going wrong on Windows 10?

Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.

The "Edit This Bookmark" dialog that opens if you click the highlighted star has a checkbox with "Show editor when saving" (shortcut key in the dialog is Alt+S). This item is at the bottom just above "Remove Bookmark" and "Done".
