Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar. How many profiles are listed? How many should be there? Also, open the folder in your file explorer.

There is one profile and that's correct, there should be only one. I'm using it right now. My bookmarks, history and everything is intact, except the passwords. I checked the logins.json file in profile folder and it's empty.

Are you using any password add-ons/programs?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

I've managed to recover the login.json file from old device. but when I add it to the profile folder the browser doesn't read it and if I click logins and passwords on firefox settings, it's empty.

how do I fix that?

EDIT: If I save new passwords, they are added to this logins.json file and are visible in "Login & Passwords" but old logins aren't visible

I didn't know and recovered only logins.json :( am I doomed? is it possible to manually insert the passwords in db? actually I have sqlite db browser and after saving new passwords the key4.db file isn't updating. are they really interconnected?

One file has you username while the other has the password data in an encrypted format.

Copy both old files to the current profile should recover your Password Manager function. But you will lose any new passwords, so write them down.

Key4.db is the key file that stores the encryption key that is required to decrypt the names and passwords. Without the proper key file (key4.db or key3.db) it is impossible to decrypt your old passwords and you can consider them lost if there is no backup available.

I type logins:json and all I get is a spectrum dns page. Is there more to this in how I can get these files. Its a bummer the latest FF upgrade did this. Isn't all these bugs worked out before releasing this?

PS-I will make back up copies of these saved password files if I can be shown how to do this. I need step by step listed in order. I hate to say this but all this security is a real pain. I like the zero or very low security if that option is available. All this security is very cumbersome. There has to be a better way. I do have malware bytes. Why isn't this enough?
