I have an old version of firefox (3.6.9) that is required for compatibility with our ancient ad trafficking system. My whole department uses it along with the Mac OS El Capitan 10.11.6. No one else has any problem with it, but I do. It crashes on startup-every single time. I've done a clean install multiple times, I've booted up in safe mode, I've deleted all preferences and profiles multiple times, and nothing will fix it.

I got into the Application support folder to find the crash report and there is no Firefox folder in application support at all. Could this be part of the problem? Is the install not working properly for some reason?

I've read about compatibility issues with google analytics as well as with Suitcase font management and I have to use Chrome for our email system and still have Suitcase Fusion installed though I no longer use it. Could either one of these cause an issue with the older version of Firefox?

Can someone please help me with this?

Sorry, I don't think most support volunteers remember Firefox 3.6.9.

There are some crashes listing that version on the server:

https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/search/?product=Firefox&version=3.6.9&platform=Mac%20OS%20X

(1) fbplugin crashes, with OSX 10.13

In two of them, the crashing thread (front page of the report) shows fbplugin which may be the signature of an old photo uploader plugin.

Can you check whether you can find and remove "Facebook Plug-in" from your system? Its file name might be fbplugin_1_0_1.plugin and it could be in a hidden folder associated with Firefox, or in a Facebook folder somewhere.

(2) Other crashes, with OSX 10.9

These do not appear to be startup crashes.

Are you sending reports to the server when the Mozilla Crash Reporter dialog appears?

YOU ARE MY HERO! That fixed it. I have been trying to find info on this for MONTHS. My IT department couldn't figure it out. All of our collective heads couldn't find anything. I had given up when I just decided to throw this out here today. Consider your good deed for the day done!
