Why am I unable to access www.behindthevoiceactors.com?

First of all I have tried to clear the Cache on Firefox more than once. I have tried disabling my Anti-Virus programs and it didn't work. It seems to be only on this site as well as the site downforeveryoneorjustme.com and the site's Facebook account told me that the site is just fine. Here is some picture evidence from the former...

But still what I have been doing I keep getting this message...

The connection has timed out

The server at www.behindthevoiceactors.com is taking too long to respond.

It has been on & off before but I wasn't able to access the site at all today. Is this because of any of the add-ons I have, what is going on?

Alright Ladies & Gents I can finally say that I resolved this issue. I just simply got a somewhat more recent router. (It was for the best that Belkin router I was using was about a decade old. I now have a TP-Link router from D-Link that was about 4 years old.) However while we did try to see it up yesterday there were some problems...

- My Father & Older Brother can get in through a Wired Connection but my computer is Wireless Connection only as it is not set up for Wired Connections

- The router we are using now is used so we had a hard time trying to find the Security Key and had no way of getting a password.

So we had to reset the router in order to be able to set up wireless connections and we did that earlier so I'm now online with a newer & better router. So yeah this issue is indeed closed as I can be back on sites like BTVA again.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?


Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

Safe Mode did not work (nor did disabling plug-ins) and that site tells me to clear the Cookies & Cache and I've kept doing that but it does not work. That link tells me that if that doesn't work then the site is down however I have had more than one source that it is not. This site seems to be the only one site where I can't access at all since Yesterday and its getting rather frustrating.

Did you do what it says on that page  ?

In that article I gave you a link to, did you read the part where it says :

Just like FredMcD I have no problem accessing that site (using Firefox), but we could all be dealing with e.g. different servers and internet providers.

You have tried just about everything 'in the book' - I'm completely out of ideas, but hopefully FredMcD or somebody else will come to your rescue .....

Not sure how I could do that since getting into my computer's safe mode requires you to restart your computer and you not have things like Internet connection in that mode.

Network support means internet. Close. the computer down and give it a minutes or so to finish. Then restart it.

As the computer is booting, press the <F8> key repeatedly. The boot menu should come up.

I did that and it didn't work and I even went ahead and restarted Firefox and it still didn't work. I am becoming more & more convinced that this problem is not because of Firefox.

Let's make sure your system is clean.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks and history and Cookies and passwords and cache and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.


You can do a malware scan just to be sure.

So far nothing STILL seems to be working however when I click the "Show Site Information" button next to the URL and it says "Connection is not secure". Which this does seem to explain the situation at hand here.

Granted I did check out the "Enable HTTPS scanning" on Avast when I was unable to access sites like Google & Facebook so I'm not sure what I could still do here.

Though I did just realize something, www.behindthevoiceactors.com is a very flash-heavy site that IIRC uses Adobe Flash regarding the various audio clips. (And back when I was able to access the site at all I did at times have problems trying to actually play the audio clips there.) Could that be a reason why I'm having problems with accessing the site? Just about every other option doesn't seem to be working...

In addition to the above (re Flash) :

Another thing you can do when your on that site : go to Page Info : click on the little 'i' in a circle, at the left end of the address bar, then on 'More Information'.

Under the Permissions tab => Activate Plugins => Adobe Flash : uncheck 'Use Default' and check 'Allow'.
