So a TL;DR version of what happened was this: Computers motherboard malfunctioned, forced me to reset Windows (Bootable disc was 2 SSDs in Raid 0, I was trying to be cheap and clever, regret it majorly now) Reinstalled Firefox and saw no Bookmark tab (Appears that Firefox has since made the bookmark tab hidden by default, but I have reason to believe my bookmarks were lost with the Windows reset) Signed into Firefox Sync (That I've been logged into since I built this computer) to find that the book marks are at least a year out of date, despite like I said above, being logged into Sync and Firefox since I started using the thing

I've tried using a Data Recovery software to see if I can get the file from yesterday back, but so far no joy (Will run a full scan with it, and pray that it finds the old places.sqlite file), since I had to reset Windows there's no "Previous Version" to fall back on either, so what I want to ask is this: How do I get back my bookmarks, as up to date as possible, and how am I supposed to trust Firefox Sync to keep my bookmarks up to date if it has just let me down massively after not updating for at least a year.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar. How many profiles are listed? How many should be there?

Unfortunately not as far as I can find, running a search on the desktop, and this Computer, hasn't found any folder named Old Firefox unfortunately

Nevermind, I found the files, Thanks to my old computer I ended up being conditioned to think there being a Windows.old folder was normal... fortunately Windows does a better job at backing up then I do.

One last thing, how can I make sure Firefox Sync is actually syncing? Because this isn't the first time I've had this issue, and I thought I had managed to solve it then, but clearly not (Sorry for changing the topic)

I would advise that you make a copy of your full profile(s) and save them someplace outside of Firefox JIC.

Be sure to update the backups every few days by copying the current to the backup, overwriting the old files. Note: Firefox must be closed when you do this.

Fair idea, can't have to many backups, thanks for your suggestions

As far as Sync goes; very strange that Sync would have year old data, unless that device wasn't connected to Sync for an extended period of time.

What about other devices being connected to Sync? They would have data that old, too; unless they too weren't connected to Sync for that long.

And if you were using Sync as a back up medium for one sole device; that's not an intended use of of Sync.
