OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, SP1 Firefox version: 56.0 (64-bit)

I could see logins.json file available at this location C:\Users\am250285\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\2htmyw1m.default-1502719430944 It has contents, but Firefox showing no saved passwords. Even it is not asking to save password now, when I am entering credentials on a web page!

Appreciate your help!

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Last week, I uninstalled Firefox completely, restarted the computer and installed again 56.0.2 (64-bit) version. After first start, it prompted me to Reset everything and opted for that. It took nearly 12 minutes, but after that now Firefox asks to remember passwords (which it was not doing previously) and shows my previous saved logins.

Thanks, -Anthony

Is there a key3.db file in the same location? Both are required.

Are you using any password add-ons?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Thank for your time, FredMcD!

I can see key3.db file in the same location of 17MB in size. I am not using any password add-ons, now or before upgrade. I tried starting Firefox in Safe mode, but it is not solving the problem reported.

Thank you!

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar. How many profiles are listed? How many should be there?

Try to rename/remove the secmode.db file in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

You can check in Windows Explorer if there is a previous version of the logins.json and key3.db file available.

Hi FredMcD,

The "Old Firefox" folder on my desktop was deleted accidentally and could not be recovered!

I do see only one profile "Profile: default" when I Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar. In the past too, I do not have multiple profiles in Firefox.

Thanks, -Anthony

Hi cor-el,

Thank you for sparing your time!

I renamed the secmode.db file in the Firefox profile folder while Firefox closed and restarted normally. When I restarted, Firefox was not showing the saved passwords.

I could not get any previous versions either for logins.json, but or key3.db file.

Thanks
