If there is a problem with a substitute home page or substitute new tab page, most likely it is caused by an add-on. However, rather than make wild guesses, it would be helpful if you could tell us more about the context of the problem.

Meanwhile, it wouldn't hurt to review your extensions. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. All extensions listed here are optional and your choice. If in doubt, disable.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Any improvement?

What website do you want to report?

This can happen if there isn't a valid URL in the location/address bar.
