Doing this is discussed in an answer to a question about reverting to default, but when i follow you instructions, I don't see any button, just the word "default."

Also, why is this function hidden in add-ons rather than being under Options/Content/Fonts & Colors ? Default coloring hardly seems like an add-on.

Hi Oneota,

It's probably just me not understanding your question,   for I set my default fonts and colors:
3-bar menu > Options > Content > Fonts and colors
But that's not working for you   ?

Hi, if the setting is hidden in add-ons, an add-on may be interfering with the default behaviour, so try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

Re: 3-bar menu > Options > Content > Fonts and colors This is what I had tried that did not work.

Re: add-ons What I tried to convey was that having to go to add-ons to find the settings for color-default is in effect hiding it. it was a question for designers and re-designers of mozilla.

Must be so annoying for you,   especially since it works like a charm for me.

I appreciate what you're saying,   but on this forum there are no Mozilla employees;   just volunteer contributors,   you see.
But should a designer happen to read you post,   I'm sure he/she will look into this.
