Why is there no signup page? Its very odd. And not conventional.

Maybe somebody has a valid reason for this. It wastes thousands of hours of time for your readers trying to hunt down something that isn't there. Instead you could put (no account necessary) beside "Ask a Question". Try to think like a user.

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

You know....if these designers are this brainless that they do things differently just to make our lives more difficult for no apparent benefit....In design you never change convention unless there are blatant and obvious advantages. Clearly this concept has completely eluded them.

Hi moz2u,

While the forum could use a bit of fine-tuning, the usual way that users requiring help would take would be to click Ask a Question. Once you fill out all the information about your issue, the forum software will then bring you into the process of creating an account. Your question will then be posted on the forum once you have verified your account by clicking on the activation link in your e-mail.

If I remember correctly, there is a bug filed for this exact issue on Bugzilla but I am unaware of the status it is in.

Actually, there is a "un-official" sign-up link that registers you as a contributor but still gets you registered nonetheless.

Ironically the forum functionality aside from the issue mentioned above, is superb. Its fast, there's no lag when typing and the help offered is very good generally. That's why I thought it odd about the sign-in feature. Most of us don't suggest things because there are probably thousands of suggestions each day and the likelihood mine would be read seems rather low. The likelihood that it would be shared with many others....lower. But I realize that if I have the energy to complain I should use that energy to suggest. How else would they know our feelings?  :)
