Where has about.config gone?

I just typed about.config into the address bar, and it said it couldn't be found. Where has it gone?

I am visually impaired and can't use another browser such as IE or Chrome because the former is not secure, and the latter isn't accessible to people with low vision.

When setting up colours in Firefox I can't use the browser based preferences, because my colours wouldn't accessible until I've changed them. Catch 22 situation. I therefore have no choice but to go to the browser.preferences.inContent option in about.config, so that I can get the old 'pop-up style' preferences to make my colour changes. That old 'pop-up' preferences window uses my Windows colour scheme, so I can see that without a problem.

I therefore need about.config to allow me to use Firefox.

What is an .xpi file This is a zip file that contains the add-on program. Can they be exported and imported, without using the Firefox tabs Febe will do all that for you. You talk about 'extensions' as if I'm supposed to know what they actually are Sorry about that. Extensions are Add-ons you install into Firefox. Plugins are from programs that Firefox finds already on your system. When you talk about saving files I choose, what files are you talking about? Everything is stored in files in the Firefox folders. You can select to save everything in your profile, or a selected number.

Now that's what I call answering questions...grins!

We're getting there, slowly but surely...I just have questions related to your answers now.

1. Can a .xpi file add an add on to Firefox simply by being double clicked on, thus removing the need to use the Add On page? Could I, for example add Febe to a fresh installation of Firefox, before I've even launched Firefox for the first time?

2. Can Febe save the Firefox colour settings (such as text and background colours for visited and unvisited links) in Options, and can Febe restore those settings without using an HTML based environment, say by using the Firefox menus, and/or pop up windows?

3. 'Everything is stored in files in the Firefox folders'...'Everything' is a rather generic word, so can we be more specific? Do you mean that every parameter has a file, thus you can choose which parameter's you save or restore? Or, do you mean that each time you save a setting you create some kind of restore file, thus you can choose which one you want?

3. Can 'Classic Theme restorer' be added to a fresh install of Firefox, and then accessed via Firefox menus, on a standard window?...thus activating the stand alone Options window?

1. Can a .xpi file Only if the computer has been told xpi files belong to Firefox. What I sometimes do is drop a xpi file into the Firefox window. But you still need to get the file. The add-ons site will install the file, or you could download it.

2. Can Febe save Yes.

3. 'Everything is stored in files Firefox stores the information in separate files based on the item. There are files that store cookies, passwords, history, bookmarks and so on.

3. Can 'Classic Theme restorer You can reach it thru the menus, or it's own icon on the tool bar.
