A possible cause of this message is that Firefox is set to run as Administrator.

Check that Firefox isn't set to run as Administrator. Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".

Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

  • Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
  • "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected

Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).

I posted a remark about having the same problem earlier and it DISAPPEARED......

however I HAVE FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THAT MY FIREFOX REQUIRED UPDATING, AND I COULD NOT DO THE UPDATE WITHOUT CLICKING "YES" TO ALLOW Mozilla to make changes to the computer.

I HOPE THAT THIS WILL BE POSTED FOR ANYONE WITH THIS PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE AS IT HAS SOLVED THE DILEMMA FOR ME.

Hi Boudica

Maybe you are referring to the post you made in this other thread:

If there are problems with updating then you can try to run Firefox once as Administrator.

Thank you so much cor-el!

You are exactly right about running Firefox once as the Administrator.

You are definitely an outstanding "star" for providing so much assistance to those who need your help.

Thank you once again.  :)
