Firefox uses the system Temp folder for downloads, but not for cache.

Firefox's cache folder(s) on Windows XP usually would be here:

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profilefolder

If Windows is not displaying the Application Data folder, you can turn off the hiding of hidden files and folders using the steps in this article: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/win_fcab_show_file_extensions.mspx?mfr=true

You can see the location of the Firefox disk cache on the about:cache page, provided that the disk cache is enabled. You can open the about:cache via the location/address bar.

In newer versions of Firefox, also look for a cache2 folder. But you're right, you shouldn't expect to find cached files in the folder, just the database files and maybe a lot of empty subfolders.

I'm not sure what you mean by "saved session files". If you downloaded or saved a file, it would be in the Windows Downloads folder, or the folder you designated if you chose a different location in the Options dialog or for a specific download. If you used an add-on to save a file, it might have its own location for saving files.

If you are wondering where the files are while you are viewing a page, or while Firefox is retaining that data so you can easily go Back and Forward through a tab's history, that would be in memory. However, I don't think we can answer specific questions about how it is structured in memory or whether there is any way to recover it from memory or the Windows page file. You might be able to find a forensic investigation discussion along those lines if you search around.

Welcome. Yes, where the files are while viewing a page?

Firefox has a memory cache (you saw that on the about:cache page).

What is the purpose of your inquiry? For example, if you want to program access to Firefox's cache from an extension, you can check MDN and/or join one of the technical mailing lists.

Hello. I want to know where firefox saves files viewed page, if I set the cache to 0MB. I already know that, certainly not in the cache folder. So where, he writes for sure ... Best regards.

The only other place would be the memory cache. You could investigate that using the about:cache page.
