Send and receving on phone works ok

When I use IMAP/SMTP incoming/outgoing servers, sending message fails: it asks me to enter another password, but does not give me a prompt to enter it. When I click retry it hangs indefinitely. However, if I create an account with Exchange/Office 365 account, sending mail works just fine. This problem occurs very recently, probably due to an automatic update to Thunderbird 140.4.0esr

Any clues and cues would be very welcome

Six emails I received on 11/3 had their body content totally replaced by a photo contained in an unrelated year old email I had received. Both immediately before and after, all is working normally. I don't know what caused this, nor could I find any way to recover the missing content.

Thunderbird is not receiving incoming emails. I get a window that says " Login to server pop.centurylink.net with username nonnox15@centurylink.net failed. See image below. This occurs frequently but usually will download after a while. But today I can't get the messages to come in. I Can go to my firefox browser and get my messages from the centurylink website, but I prefer to use Thunderbird. Any help would be appreciated.

I can put the password in the window that pops up, but I still can't get the messages to download.

I have several problems with Thunderbird:

- When I first open TB, my Inbox shows "No message found". I have 9654 E-mails in the Inbox. If I click on a different folder and then click on Inbox again, I can see the E-mails in the Inbox. - About once a week when I first open TB, the program begins downloading 10000 E-mails (sometimes more). All these E-mails, with the exception of a few received the previous night, have already been downloaded. This download takes as long as 45 minutes. - TB marks many E-mails as Spam even though I have previously marked these E-mail addresses as not Spam.

Any help with these problems appreciated.

Hi, As I mentioned above [edited from public] @telus.net which is a gmail account has been acting strangely. "Recently my [edited from public] @telus.net account has stopped saving my sent messages. Also when I open an email it then disappears." I have checked the All and Important files but they are gone and I can't figure out what is happening. Any help in discovering why messages that I read disappear would be helpful. Thanks

I have an email from "Wells Fargo" that would auto forward to another email. I removed the forwarding to that other email but Thunderbird keeps forwarding that email each time WF sends an update. Do I need to delete the WF filters and restart Thunderbird or is there something deeper that needs to be done? Thanks for your help kenb

Now my TB will neither send or receive. I wish to keep my care4free email address. How can I reinstall or recover TB? I was out of town for a week, away from my desktop. While traveling I was looking at my email on my Android phone, and all seemed OK. When I returned to my office this morning, my one week's worth of email did not download into Thunderbird. I noticed that there was an update to the program while I was gone. Not sure how to recapture my week of lost email?

I manage several emails through Thunderbird, the default account is my own, this is the one I am having trouble with.

1) I can send and receive emails. (this is an imap server) 2) When I added the account to Thunderbird in account settings it created the following folders/icons: Inbox Drafts Sent Mail All Mail Junk Spam Trash (with the traditional trash icon) Then the following folders: Drafts Important Starred Trash (Which looks like a windows folder) - If I have a trash can, why do I need a trash folder, I didn't create it.

I cannot delete emails from "All Mail", every time I delete one it reappears and at this point it has well over 8,000 going back to 2022. Most of which I don't need to keep any more.

If I go to google's website and log into my account I cannot delete them either! They come right back.

It's as if Google and Thunderbird are not talking to each other.

3) I've already uninstalled Thunderbird and deleted all the files from /users/myname/appdata/roaming/ Thunderbird/Profiles, ran Ccleaner, rebooted, reinstalled Thunderbird and added my mailboxes and still have the problem..

4) I've also tried to run Thunderbird without addons to no avail.

5) My other emails do not display this kind of behavior, just the on that is set as default.

If anyone has come across this please tell me what I need to do.

I have two questions.

1. Right now I cannot receive messages automatically, which always has functioned. Now I have to shut down my e-mail and then reopen it, after I´ve done that I receive new messages. But I really will receive them automatically.

2. In the map Archives have all my saved documents been missing. I have six different maps in the Archives map and all saved information are now gone.

What has occoured? I hope yo can help me.

I have used thunderbird for years. I have several email accounts on thunderbird. I own a small company with a private domain. The last [work] email both my employee and i received in Thunderbird was on 10/27/2025. The emails just stopped arriving in our inboxes. We can both access email through webmail. Personally i am still able to access all my other emails (gmail.com, comcast.net).

I checked with Hostgator and my thunderbird email settings are correct.

I did not have a SSL certificate so i have just onboarded that feature (not sure if that has any relevance to our current predicament).

Thoughts on how to troubleshoot this problem? Is it possible Thunderbird has made a recent software change?

Any ideas appreciated.

Dear Thunderbird Support Team,

When sending emails through Thunderbird, the emails are successfully sent, but they do not appear in the “Sent Messages” folder. The following error message is displayed:

“The message was sent successfully, but could not be copied to your Sent folder due to network or file access errors. You may retry or save the message locally to Sent Messages - shin955@hanbat.ac.kr

(IMAP).”

We are currently using IMAP and SMTP. On other devices and locations, the sent emails appear correctly in the “Sent Messages” folder without any errors. However, at a certain point, this issue started occurring on the system that had been working fine before — the emails send successfully, but they are no longer saved to the Sent folder.

Here are the troubleshooting steps we have already tried:

Checked and reconfigured the “Save sent messages” folder settings.

Deleted the MSF files from the App Data folder and restarted Thunderbird.

Disabled firewall and antivirus programs, then retried sending emails.

We have tried nearly all the solutions suggested online, but the issue persists. I would like to request remote assistance to resolve this problem if possible.

Sorry for the trouble, and I would appreciate your prompt response.
