Good morning

Since this morning (05/03/2026) Thunderbird freezes within a minute or two of opening the program.

Everything in the program freezes up. I cannot even close it.

I am running Version 140.8.0esr on a Windows 10 PC.

Initially I was getting a pop up warning message that ask me to confirm if I wanted to send an email with attachments of over 20 MB. There were 3 or 4 such messages. I had not tried to send such emails.

I checked the Outbox in Local folders for old messages, but it was empty. I also checked the Unsent messages files in Local Folders in the Profile folder. I deleted the Unsent Messages.msf file to no effect. I renamed and replaced the Unsent messages file. Also no change.

I checked for crash logs but there are none.

I have run out of ideas as to what to try next. Does anyone have any advice?

I'm having a strange issue with a website I use for crypto trading. On Firefox the page layout looks broken and some sections overlap or don't load correctly.

The site is paribu.com https://www.paribu.com . When I open the same page in Chrome everything looks normal and the layout loads properly.

I tried refreshing and disabling a few extensions but the issue still happens in Firefox. Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what might cause this?

On my PC - Initial problem was T-bird took forever to load and virtually all new msgs went to TRASH and I had to move to IN-Box. Per help from David - Saved off profile, and reinstalled thunderbird from thunderbird.net. No change. Then UNINSTALLED T-Bird (profile still intact). Now just attempts to open "Looking up imap.comcast.net", but won't open/connect and to close the app I must use WIN Task Master. Can't get to any msgs, etc.

Also, in the past when I was able to open, the  banner or bar at the top of the page had hundreds of email icons.  I sometime have over 1000 emails in my in-box!! 

I have years worth of emails in folders on T-Bird which I don't want to loose. Help. Thank you. I have a "working" version (with the "trash" and slow loading issue per above) on my laptop, so I can access suggestions on that version of T-Bird. You could also send any suggestions to x@gmail.com

I use an online retailer to buy birthday cards and gifts - Moonpig.com. Whenever I choose Paypal as my payment option, it logs me directly into my Paypal account without me entering any details. I have several Paypal accounts and want to choose which one to use. I have no saved payment details on Moonpig's site and having checked, they say that somehow my browser is logging me in automatically. That's Firefox and I want it to stop.

I have no issues with Firefox storing log-in details but I should be able to choose which Paypal account I want to use.

Any thoughts please? UF

I have around 60 tabs open accross 5 windows, and whenever I try to open a new tab, Firefox takes many minutes to load completely. I've restarted Firefox and the problem is solved for a few days, and then it persists. I've been using Google, but I want to keep using Firefox. Fix it now please.

Normally, I can right click and tell Thunderbird that this is NOT junk, however, when I do this, these emails go back into the inbox and virtually instantly return to junk.

This is from anyone's email address that arrives from one particular website: @legacydigitalagency.com

I haven't come across this issue since I started using Thunderbird 20+ years ago.

WebRTC DataChannel worked perfectly in Firefox 147 and earlier, but after upgrading to Firefox 148, send() throws InvalidStateError immediately after onopen fires. Same code works in Chrome and previous Firefox versions.

Question: What changed in Firefox 148 that broke DataChannel send()? Any workaround while this gets fixed?

Believe my T-bird account has somehow been corrupted. Takes forever to load on PC and always puts new emails in Trash folder. Often does not accept correct password. If I save / backup PROFILE, uninstall T-Bird and delete any Thunderbird folders on PC, if I restore per backup, will I be restoring the corrupted app. Don't want to loose email addresses, thousands of emails and email folder structure. Will a restore work? Thank you. Greg D

PS Version of T-Bird on laptop still puts all new email in Trash, but loads much more quickly, etc.

My system was hacked and I had to factory restore it. I didn't write down my login/passwords because I was informed that as long as I had my sign in for FireFox I could restore them on my system.

Alas, I cannot figure out how to do this. I do not have a passkey, a profile or anything other than the email address for my system.

Can you help me? I put all of my important documents in Dropbox and now I can;t access that either.

Anything you can do is appreciated.

Please allow us to choose per website whether it should always/never be opened in its respective app or if it should always be asked about.

Personally, I hate when websites like YouTube, Wikipedia or Reddit open in app without my permission, but I have a few payment cervices and a local government ID system that ALWAYS require a redirect through an app, so, at least to me, granular control of this feature - to always allow some, but not all websites - would be absolutely indispensable.

Edge for Android has had this feature for a long time, and, as far as I know, it is the only existing Android browser to do so. But I am not going to use Edge :( I am attaching two screenshots of how it's been implemented in Edge though.

I had a mainstream company website start some of this months ago and now I seem to be getting more and more similar connection problems for other sites. My pc works just fine on nearly every other site so I just don't see it as my pc. I asked my ip and although I question whether they will help much but they did say nothing from their side. Yes I am up to date on ffox and OS. Clearing cookies does nothing. Some sites just say access denied, some will just never load or have some bs 'oops' or 'something went wrong' message. Chrome seems to mostly work but it may be goofy getting the sites working. These all used to work fine before. It does have the same or similar problem using other pc's on the same network. I can find nothing in my modem/router that is blocking anything. How do I find out what is wrong?

I updated my TB to version 148 (from 140) on a Linux Mint 22.3 - Cinnamon 64-bit. After the update, events recorded in my Gmail personal account, keep popping up and do not allow neither Dismiss or Snooze - Buttons not even work. If you close the reminder window, the Reminder window pops-up a few minutes later.

Interesting is that beyond my personal Gmail account I have a couple other in Google Workspace and they work well. It is something only related to Gmail personal.

Can not send emails to a newly created outlook.com (free) account. Have tried dozens of different settings, approaches.

My current setup:

 - windows 10
 - thunderbird 140.8.0esr (64-bit),  numerous previous versions also do not work
 - outlook.com (free) account mail provider
 - POP3 enabled (tried IMAP enabling also) on outlook.com account
 - no 2FA or 2FA enabled on outlook.com account, no difference
 - outlook.com web access works fine
 - followed instructions in mozilla support article Microsoft OAuth Authentication and Thunderbird in 2024 
      (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/microsoft-oauth-authentication-and-thunderbird-202)
 - have done a fresh install on a new machine without an existing profile.
 - have tried various microsoft servers, have tried oauth2, normal password
 - thunderbird account creation works just fine.
 - server settings and SMTP settings match as recommended by support article noted above
    SMTP server settings
        server name: smtp-mail.outlook.com  
        port: 587
        connection: STARTTLS
        authentication: OAUTH2
        user:  xxxxxxxx@outlook.com

symptoms:

 - receiving(downloading) emails works fine.
 - sending emails fails with following messages
     Login to server smtp-mail.outlook.com with username  xxxxxx@outlook.com    failed    followed by 
           Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) . Please check the password and verify the 
             'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'

Many people seem to be having this issue with no resolution.

Please help.

Is there a way to create a Thunderbird account even though your system is not able to log into my iCloud.com email account using my credentials?

I successfully imported the book marks and see multiple bookmarks folders in library. At least one of them really has the bookmarks. But when I enable show bookmarks, they are nowhere to be seen

after Firefox update all bookmarks stopped working and are not editable. All tabs crash, including Firefox help link from the Firefox menu.

Password list is blank - no entries

Is there any way to retrieve bookmarks?

I need to enter each url in the browser line and save bookmark for it to work.

Can you please help?
