I have set bookmarks in FF 6.0.2, only to have them disappear when restarting. Is this one of those "reinstall the software" issues or is something else wrong?

For a week or more I had no bookmarks available, and couldn't save them. Then this week I was able to save them. This morning when I started up my computer and loaded FF they were gone again.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
