I cannot permanently change my search engine from Yahoo to Google; Firefox resets it everytime it starts.

I have changed the search engine from Yahoo to Google in 'Manage Search Engines,' but Firefox resets it when it starts up the next time. It gives me a notification that my defaults are being reset.
