Do you have the option to add it from the customise menu in the bottom corner of the new tab page?

Yes, the customize/edit icon is there. The weather widget has been saying "the weather is not avilable" for a long time. I believe I fixed it by re-entering the area I want to follow. I kept entering my zip-code in there and it wouldn't work, then I typed out the name of my town, and it started working. It's working so far anyway. Thanks for trying to help.
