Basically every week Thunderbird refreshes the folders and reloads all folders and messages. Consuming my Mac's IO and internet traffic when it should not. This particular week is the second time it's happening.

Some suspicions, not proven (I did not find anything in this support forum that indicated this): 1. My accounts have too many messages and Thunderbird loses synchronism ? 2. Too many accounts for Thunderbird to manage ? 3. Existence of some limit on the number of folders, messages or profile size (storage limit) ? 4. Maildir could be better to store messages, than mbox ?

My system: - Mac OS X Yosemite - 10.10.5 - Thunderbird 45.5.1 - 6x IMAP accounts (only 3 I download all messages) - Message Store Type: mbox (maildir could be better???)

I thank you in advance for any help

Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled".

If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.

Bruce, thank you for your help. I Restarted with Add-ons Disabled and I will monitor if the problem happens again.

The problem persists, even with the suggested procedure by Bruce. Without any Active Add-ons, reloading messages occurs from time to time.

Any other suggestions? Thank You.
