drop menus stopped working

Drop menus have stopped working on a site ive used for several years. I suspect they are css menus - which now require mouseover to activate. I am using an android tablet therefore no mouseover! When i click on the former dropmenus, they simply act as links. Are there any patches or settings to correct this?
