No it's not the msf file, that's the index. (If the mail file is deleted the index will remain.) It's a file without any extension. You can open any of your mail files with a simple text editor (like Notepad, if you are a Windows user) and read the messages inside, so you can check whether you have found the right one. If your account is Gmail, and if you've recently deleted the folder, have you checked the Trash for it?

You could log in to your mail server via the mail provider's website and see if the folder still exists there. If it doesn't, you can look in your Thunderbird profile folder to see if it's there. I believe I found the folder(s) dated today, would it be a msf file? If so how do I move back to GMail in Thunderbird? Darryl
