Clicking on existing tabs resets them to 'New Tab'

Each time I try to click on an existing tab, the page does not load and the tab instead resets to 'New Tab' with no page loading.

I un-installed Firefox and then re-installed, but had changed no settings up to this point to make this happen. However, on my desktop computer, the browser operates fine and does not have this issue.

The error occurs about 90% of the time and started about two months ago from what I can remember. I'm not sure why it works fine 10% of the time. Has anyone else experienced this?

This problem occurs, if the tab is not fully loaded the page.

As per your answer after uinstalling also your facing this problem. I suggest you to create a new problem and check the issue.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See Creating a profile:

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

To be honest, if I am just going to have to re-transfer all the old files from my previous profile, I'd rather not go to the trouble.

My session file is probably corrupted.

Can you advise how I escape from the current session file? Closing and re-opening my browser just opens all the same tabs from the same session. I have saved my current session with all my tabs in case I need them later.

For now, I want to start fresh from a new session entirely. I'm having trouble even finding the sessionstore files in my profile folder. They are all labeled as dates; not the general session.js, etc.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js file in the profile folder that stores session data. When sessionstore.js is deleted you lose pinned tabs and Tab Groups and open tabs and you will have to recreate them, so if necessary make a note or bookmark them.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Like I said, there is no sessionstore.js file in that folder.

Firefox uses the sessionstore.js file in the profile folder to store session data, but this file is only present when Firefox is closed. The sessionstore.js file is created from recovery.js when you close Firefox and is removed and copied to previous.js when you start Firefox to make is possible to restore the session at any time.

So should I just close Firefox, navigate to the profile folder and delete these session files?

Creating a new profile has not worked. I have also already un-installed and re-downloaded the browse with no results.
