I have in the past allowed Windows to download updates automatically (which worked fine) but as of three weeks ago Windows updates can not be downloaded they are being blocked . I have gone through the actions of downloading them manually but it gets half way through downloading and the (download failed shows up). Should I change this? The computer is working fine now and if it ain't broke should I fix it?

I think that foxfire is blocking the Windows updates and downloads that is why I asked the question on this forum. But thanks for a response I'll keep trying.

What security software do you have?

It is possible that security software (anti-virus, firewall) is causing problems. Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference if it happens again.

Windows updates are done by Windows programs thru Win IE. Firefox is not involved.
