The selected message from "inbox" is not displayed on screen

When selecting a messages received before May , 20th, 13.20 hrs (MET) text of the message is not displayed. When selecting another message, the tab will indicate the selected message (on the image Re: WiFi), but the heading display the sender, subject etc of the earlier message (on the image: From Peter Bartelds etc). And the text is missing. I cannot read any message older than May, 20th.

Try to rebuild the index file of the troubled folder. Right-click the folder - Properties - Repair Folder

I tried to rebuild the in-folder in the indicated way, but now all the earlier messages disapeared. It does not seem to solve the problem, but now I miss many messages.

Apparently your email files were corrupted. The most likely cause for corruption is anti-virus software messing with Thunderbird files when it shouldn't. Do you let your anti-virus software scan the Thunderbird profile folder?

My anti-virus is AVG Free, and yes, it scans my whole computer for the last couple of years. Never had any problems, so I doubt AVG caused the problem. I accept the present situation.
