duckduckgo is my default, so why do I get Google search?
Android tablet, Firefox 123.1. 0
Why does search engine always use Google when I changed my default a long time ago?
Thanks.

Hi
When you open the Firefox for Android menu and select Settings, which search engine is listed under the word Search?
DuckDuckGo is the default search engine. Exactly as I wrote.
Thank you.
Where are you searching that leads to a Google search? Is it from the address bar in Firefox for Android?
Highlighting a word or phrase in a news app, usually. Now, this is a good question!
Thank you.
Hi
Do you have Firefox for Android set as your default web browser on your Android device?
Yes.
Thank you.
I noticed you used the phrase "news app". I assume you are talking about the Google Discover application (swipe right from The Home Screen) on a tablet. This app opens news in Chrome by default.
You can check which browser you are in by taking the following steps:
1. open the selected news item 2. tap the three vertical dots in the upper right corner (right before highlighting the word and doing a search) 3. make sure that "Running in Chrome" is not written in the last line of the menu
No, a news app like The Guardian.
Thank you.
