I select Update now on any plugin that needs updated and a screen comes up saying check your plugins with a spinning dial - and it sits there forever.

Running Version 49.0.1 (updated to this to see if it fixed the problem). Go to addons manager. OK. Select "Update now" on any one that needs updated. Check your plug ins tab comes up and spins forever. Acrobat, Shockwave and Silverlight all do the same thing. All are currently blocked.

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
