Support Forum

Again, the stored FIREFOX bookmarks are correct but when clickd on they go to other stored bookmarks.

Posted

The problem has existed through multiple releases of FIREFOX. The cause is not malware, and it certainly isn't Windows 8 because I am running Windows 7. I have been asking this question for months without a response.

could you go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

Question owner

When I click on the copy TEXT or RAW DATA buttons I don't get a paste option.

after you've copied the information on the about:support page, you can right-click in the reply text box & select paste (or click into the textfield and press ctrl+v)...

Question owner

Apparently my problem is unique because it is not any of the problems solved with the sqlite database. Each time I bookmark a page it is saved and saved correctly. If I copy and paste it in FIREFOX it goes to the correct page. But if I double click the bookmark FIREFOX goes to a different page, but only one that is stored in my FIREFOX BOOKMARKS.

ok, nothing very out of the ordinary there - can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering...

Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems

Question owner

Can you tell me how to get to the FIREFOX Profile Folder? Thanks.

Question owner

I found the profile. There are 3 places.sqlite files blank, shm, and wal. Which one are you talking about. Also, if deleting this file loses all my bookmarks, I'll live with the issue.

Question owner

I will try that this PM. Thanks.

The sqlite-shm and sqlite-wal files are temporarily SQLite files that should disappear when you close Firefox.
If they are still there then delete them as well.

Helpful Reply

I restarted FIREFOX in SAFE Mode and the problem disappeared. I guess I will have to disable my ADD-ONs one at a time.
