FireFox won't send video stream to Windows Media Player; it downloads completely first, then opens WMP

I'm using FF 5.0.1 on Windows 7 Enterprise.

When I click a video link (avi/mpg/etc), FireFox used to immediately open Windows Media Player. WMP would start buffering for a couple seconds and then immediately start playing.

Now when I click a video link, it downloads the entire video first, then it opens WMP and starts to play. This obviously takes a lot longer.

I'd like to tell FireFox to send the URL directly to WMP to open directly instead of downloading first & opening.
